Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, the Capital of Malaysia, is our start point for this trip. This was for a number of reasons, one of the major ones being that it is the hub for AirAsia, the Asian equivalent of Easyjet, but with better service and clean planes.
The most famous landmark in Kuala Lumpur, the Petronas Towers, dominate the skyline. Standing over 370m to the top of the roof (the antenna/spire finishes at 451m), they were completed in 1996. Our hotel overlooks these magnificent buildings.
The city is fantastic. Very humid, although the fair amount of rain did nothing to damp our enthusiasm. At night the building come alive, with some of the most artistic lighting I have ever seen. The Petronas Towers really do dominate the skyline, but the architecture in this city has to be seen to be believed.
We went back to KL for a few more days after Bali, and saw a bit more of the city, although what I have seen so far has left me wanting a Digital SLR camera with a wide angle lens. You cannot do this place justice with a compact camera, you have got to have a wide lens just to fit some of the buildings in.
